What is the project?

This is a special cultural exchange between young people in Australia and China over the Internet. We will use new technologies to promote friendship and cultural understanding between young people in China and Australia.

What is it for?

This project is to be exhibited The China-Australia Cultural Exchange project will be included in the famous Third Asia Pacific Triennial (Art Exhibition) hosted by Queensland Art Gallery in September 1999. This international exhibition includes works from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Taipei, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia, Vanuatu and the Torres Strait Islands. It attracted 120,000 visitors in 1996.
 

What is involved?

You will:

•  learn some simple but useful computer skills
•  communicate in  English with foreigners on the Internet
•  work with young Australians to build a world wide web site for 1) exhibition at Asia Pacific Triennial – and 2) also available on the Internet for anyone in the world to see

March 1999 – May/June 1999

The group will meet:

•  Every Friday at the mountain campus computer lab 10.30am –12 noon.
•  Every Wednesday at the 163 Net Café on XiYouYi Road, Xian 10-12.
